Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) geospatial products
are herein provided via downloadable compressed (zip) files.

MAY 2016 -------------  UPDATE  -----------------

WYDOT is moving towards maintaining an ELRS that expands support for WYDOT 
business tasks, including the provision of street names and aliases.

The WYDOT_ELRS product has undergone minor attribution changes, but remains 
essentially an export of the elemental WYDOT linear-referenced system geometry. 
WYDOT_ELRS contains route and measure attributes only (no names information).

WYDOT_ELRS contains all on-system and off-system route geometry. 
On-system routes are those for which WYDOT has maintenance responsibility 
include Interstates, U.S. Highways and Wyoming State Highways. 
Off-system routes consists of county roads and city streets at this time.

New to the WYDOT downloadable products are:
  WYDOT_ELRS_Mileposts
  WYDOT_Roadway_Names
  WYDOT_Roadway_Names_Mileposts

WYDOT_ELRS_Mileposts is a derived product containing mileposts based on the 
WYDOT_ELRS geometry.

WYDOT_Roadway_Names is a derived product containing road geometry (also 
based on the  WYDOT_ELRS geometry) for which names are maintained by WYDOT. 
It replaces the historical separately-derived products for highways and 
county roads, and brings back municipal streets where names are available. 
The previous products contained dissimilar attributes and were difficult 
to merge.  The new WYDOT_Roadway_Names shapefile provides all three types. 

WYDOT_Roadway_Names_Mileposts is a derived product containing mileposts based 
on the WYDOT_Roadway_Names geometry.


APRIL 2016 -----------  UPDATE  -----------------

Decreased number of attribute fields exported in ELRS shapefile.


JANUARY 2016 -----------  UPDATE  -----------------

Road (linear) products for 2016 are now available.
The products are derived from the WYDOT ELRS (see October 2014 note below).

Milepost (point) products remain in development and are unavailable at this time.

The products are derived from the WYDOT ELRS (see October 2014 note below).

Milepost (point) products remain in development and are unavailable at this time.
However, mileposts do not change often and the latest 2014 archives are available
in the folder "2014_Archive".



OCTOBER 2014 -------  IMPORTANT NOTE---------------

WYDOT has converted the LRS route geometry to a planarized, topologically correct
geometry in order to support anticipated future requirements.
The new production base feature classes (routes, measures, and equations) are named
"ELRS" for "Enterprise LRS".

Download products derived from the ELRS are provided with the suffix _201410a
(see File Naming Convention).
These are currently in development; the set is incomplete and the products have not
been tested for consistency with products derived from the archival LRS.

Files with the _201408b suffix represent final products derived from the archival LRS.

WYDOT LRS:  The LRS is elemental WYDOT linear-referenced system geometry,
	    containing route and measure attributes only (no names information).
	    The LRS contains all route geometry (on-system and off-system).
